DGDG 2021 Mazda3 Turbo models

No one wants to see a check engine light illuminated as they are traveling down San Jose roads, but it’s nothing to fear! You check engine light can mean that there are a few things wrong with your engine system:

  • Issues with the electrical system
  • Issues with the emission control system
  • A very low or extremely empty mixtape
  • A missing or loose gas cap

Below, the service center at Capitol Mazda covers info on the Mazda3 check engine light and more about SKYACTIV®-G technology!

More Mazda Check Engine Light Tips

There are sometimes very simple solutions when your Mazda check engine light comes on. As noted above, a loose gas cap could be the culprit! But what if the Mazda3 check engine light is persistent? Here are a few other tips for what to do about the Mazda check engine light:

  • Schedule service, but on your way to the service center avoid high speeds if your light has been on for a while. You don’t want to risk exacerbating any SKYACTIV®-G engine problems.
  • Should you reset the battery? Some Campbell drivers know that resetting the battery can make the Mazda check engine light go away. But we don’t recommend this, because it can hide some serious SKYACTIV®-G engine problems.

Troubleshooting SKYACTIV®-G Engine Noise and More

SKYACTIV®-G technology is Mazda’s proprietary turbocharged engine technology that is a true game-changer for many Los Gatos drivers. It gives Mazda vehicles like the CX-3 and

CX-5 a really incredible combination of robust performance and fuel economy. But what do you do if you want to prevent strange SKYACTIV®-G engine noise or keep SKYACTIV®-G technology in good shape? Here are some useful tips:

  • Idle the engine at least 30 seconds before you stop after particularly trying drives, like high freeway speeds, towing, or hill climbing.
  • Don’t over-rev or race the engine, especially in cold temperatures.
  • Follow your maintenance menu for engine procedures such as oil changes and filter changes to prevent weird SKYACTIV®-G engine noise or other problems.
  • Use the recommended fluids such as engine oil and not any other product.
